Board and Train, Day Kamp n Train or Private Lessons: Which One Fits Your Dog?

November 5, 2026

Kamp K9 offers three ways to train your dog: private lessons, Day Kamp n Train, and Kamp 'N Train, our board and train program. All three build impulse control and then focus on the same basic obedience. Which one fits depends on your schedule, and on how fast you need results.

Private lessons

Private lessons are one-on-one sessions with our trainer, either in your home or at Kamp K9 at 2700 Taft Avenue in Orlando. One hour is $120. A 5-session package is $550, and an 8-session package is $850.

You're there for every session, so you learn the commands at the same time your dog does. We start private lessons as early as 8 weeks old, which makes them a good first step with a new puppy. Puppies 8 to 16 weeks old can also join Puppy Pre-School.

Private lessons suit families who want to do the practice themselves and have time for it between sessions.

Day Kamp n Train

Day Kamp n Train mixes daycare and training. Your dog comes to Day Kamp, plays in groups with other dogs, and works with our trainer during the day. Packages are 4 days for $530, 6 days for $720, or 12 days for $1,400. We build each one around what your dog needs to learn. The 4-day and 6-day packages include 1 private lesson while the 12-day package includes 2 private lessons.

It works well for busy families who want more than a weekly lesson but can't stand to be away from their dog for two weeks. Dogs need to be at least 5 months old to start. Must be fully vaccinated.

Kamp 'N Train (board and train)

Kamp 'N Train is our board and train program. Your dog stays with us for at least 2 weeks and trains at the facility, where we recreate real-life situations to practice in. When your dog isn't training, it's out in the play groups. We call that part learning to be a good kid on the playground.

Two weeks is the jump start. Three weeks gives more time to practice, and 4 weeks or longer is for bigger training goals. The 2-week program is $2,450 and includes 3 private lessons for your family at the end. Like Day Kamp n Train, it starts at 5 months old.

Families usually pick Kamp 'N Train when they need results faster, or when they're working through a specific behavior problem.

The three programs side by side

Program Where How long Price Starting age
Private lessons Your home or Kamp K9 1 hour per session $120, or 5 for $550, or 8 for $850 8 weeks
Day Kamp n Train Kamp K9, during Day Kamp 4, 6 or 12 days $530, $720 or $1,400 5 months
Kamp 'N Train Kamp K9, overnight 2 weeks or more From $2,450, with 3 private lessons 5 months

What every program has in common

While working on Impulse control, each program includes Basic obedience covering sit, down, stay, come, leave it and loose leash walking. A dog can learn all of it with us and still forget it at home if nobody keeps it going. That's why Day Kamp n Train and Kamp 'N Train both finish with private lessons for you. Once you complete those lessons, we guarantee the training.

We're a balanced training facility, and we don't use e-collars. We reward the behavior we want with treats, toys or affection, and we take the reward away as the consequence.

If board and train sounds like the right fit, the full details are on our Board and Train page. You can also call 321-376-KAMP and tell us what your dog is up to.

About Kamp K9

Kamp K9 grew from a pet sitting business started by the “Vann Kids.” To earn money Louise and Brian, Jr. founded the company. They focused on providing dog sitting and walking services to families with dogs in their neighborhood. Their father, Brian, Sr., realized the family’s passion for dogs while helping his children pet sit. The family decided to expand the business.
